What a blessing it is to do what you love. Think about it, how do you feel while you work? Are you happy, do you love it? Does your day go by quickly or are you looking at the clock with a feeling of dread that time is moving too slowly?
As a solopreneur, I work at home. My support comes from a community of women who own the same business (LuLaRoe) that I do and who live all over the United States. I’ve come to know some of them in person, but I regularly communicate with them all via Facebook or private messages. My own personal team is both near and far and social media is a quick and easy way to disseminate information and provide support. My upline, Melissa, let us know late last year that she was going to set up a team retreat and training in April. I hesitated to fly to New Orleans from the west coast as my kids were going to be on spring break but I decided to go and meet other teammates and learn as much as possible.
I made so many new friends this past weekend, and I got to see old friends and talk about tips, tricks, ideas, frustrations and blessings that are a part of this business. It wasn’t all work, we were treated to history tours, cooking class, fabulous dinners, photo shoots, manicures and rock-star training. The unofficial itinerary included eating beignets at midnight, throwing leggings to women on the street from a private balcony on Bourbon Street, listening to ghost stories, taking pictures of each other in front of all the beautiful buildings and helping each other style outfits. It was building each other up, being supportive and kind and helpful. It doesn’t sound like corporate America and I’m happy about that.
I’m back from training more energized than ever and much of it has to do with all the wonderful women on our team. It’s so important to surround yourself with supportive people, especially if you work from home. Make sure to take some time to develop relationships so you can share ideas and tips with each other. As I sit at home today, I find myself smiling at our shenanigans and looking forward to our next meeting! And now, back to work because I love what I do!
