I woke up this morning to a blog post bashing a direct sales company. Bashing it to the point where it could have been a crime scene it was so bloody. I thought about the article for a little while and decided to shrug it off. Let me tell you why I love direct sales.
Supporting other women
Most of the people involved in direct sales are women, mainly moms. And moms need a break. Seriously, they need to get away and see other women, have some wine, chat and discuss their latest Target finds. If shopping is involved, bonus points! As long as no one comes and drags me out of my house, texts me 24/7 and stalks me on Facebook, I’ll go see what it’s all about.
Finding great products
Are you addicted to bling? Check out Stella & Dot, Plunder, Origami Owl. Do you love hot baths and pampering time? Look into Posh and Beautycounter. Makeup your thing? Younique and Lipsense might make you spend a chunk of your paycheck to improve your selfies. Are you organized? 31 Bags will make you happy! If leggings are your weakness, look no further than LuLaroe.
Helping a family
Having a little extra spending money per month could very easily help pay the bills or provide a little extra for a family. No matter what the reason for starting a direct sales business, a desire to work is admirable, not laughable. Summer camp, sports, after-school activities and day care are expensive, but so is food, medicine, rent, and education.
Being part of a community
Direct sales groups are all over Facebook. Since most people spend a good part of their day on social media, the sense of community and relationship-building in these groups can support direct sales businesses and also educate them on appropriate business practices and activities. And you make some pretty amazing friends!
When you need a boost in self-esteem, what better way than to be around other people. Find something that speaks to you, motivates you and encourages you to step out of your comfort zone. Women should be building up other women, helping, supporting and encouraging them.
When you are involved in direct sales, it is important to be sensitive to your friends and family. Don’t let your enthusiasm overwhelm your common sense. Build a relationship and lead into your business at the right time. Go ahead and show off your new necklace, cute dress and lip gloss. People are watching!
